21 Tips To Immediately Calm Anxious Energy
1. Remember to take several long deep breaths, bringing oxygen into your lungs and circulating through your body to your brain. When you stay calm, you make better, more clear decisions, and you better affect the people around you.
2. Listen to light music that you can hum to. Music therapy is known to impact the mind positively. Harmonious and pleasant songs like those from Sara Bareilles, John Mayer, or Ingrid Michaelson. Jazz and classical music can be helpful to relax, but can also put you to sleep.
3. Clean or bake or do something with your hands. You can always work with a familiar and simple recipe. You’ll feel good afterward because our brains love a sense of accomplishment, whether it’s a triumph like winning Wimbledon or producing something that we can share with others.
You can also create a system of reminders for when you can do maintenance on small things like cleaning your sheets, air purifiers, and glasses, etc. Anxious moments are a good opportunity to get your house in order, dust,and clean out expired items as you focus on looking for expiration dates.
